Policy/Guidelines

Genres  are offered in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Leaps & Turns and Tumbling

• Classes are conducted on a full term NORMAL basis, (September to the date of Annual Dance Revue in May). 

• During this period, MOST private school holidays are observed. When schools are dismissed for a full day, because of bad weather or unforeseen disasters, dance lessons WILL NOT be held. 

• When schools are dismissed early, check the announcements in the parent portal, website or our Facebook page to see if classes have been canceled. We will also send out a mass email and text when classes are canceled.

• If your child decides to discontinue dance lessons, you must notify the studio by email immediately, otherwise, you will still be charged monthly tutiion until we are notified.

NO REFUNDS OR PRORATES WILL BE GIVEN FOR CLASSES YOUR CHILD MISSES DUE TO VACATION OR BEING ILL. NO REFUNDS OR PRORATES WILL BE GIVEN FOR CANCELED CLASSES DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORESEEN DISASTERS/PANDEMICS.

• All Payments are due by the 1st of each month, If we do not receive your payment by the 15th of the month a $25 late fee will be added to your following months bill.

• If payment is not received by the 15th of the month, the card on file will be ran for the monthly tuition amount that is due.

•  If the overdue amount is not taken care of within  60 days, the dancer will not be allowed to continue classes.

• You can pay your bill by cash or card by logging onto your parent portal NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PAYMENT!

Every family participating in the Annual Dance Recital will pay a costume and recital fee (These amounts will be determined at a later date).

 If the student or students drop from dancing after November 1st, you will still be responsible for the full recital fee and all costume fees. 

Baton Rouge Rehearsal : May 20th at the Raising Canes River Center

Baton Rouge Recital : May 21st at the Raising Canes River Center

St. Francisville Rehearsal: May 15th at the West Feliciana Theatre (NOT SET IN STONE)

St. Francisville Recital: May 16th at the West Feliciana Theatre (NOT SET IN STONE)

NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVING IF YOUR CHILD DROPS FROM CLASSES OR THE RECITAL HAS TO BE CANCELLED.

Students who have taken THREE genres of dance with Powell Moïse for 5, 10, or 15 years will receive an award the night of the Revue. This counts a combo class or THREE individual classes.

Students who come from another studio may include those years to recieve an award at Powell Moise, as long as the previous teacher is a member of DMA and the following requirements are met;

• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for THREE years to receive a 5 year award.
• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for SIX years to receive a 10 year award.
• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for NINE years to receive a 15 year award.

Below is the proper attire that is purchased from Powell-Moïse for all Studio classes.

• Navy blue leotard
• Pink convertible tights
• Pink ballet shoes
• Tan buckle tap shoes
• Ballet skirt or Tutu (optional)                                                                                

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CHILD'S SHOES HAS THIER NAME IN THEM.

THEY WILL ALSO NEED TO BRING A DANCE BAG TO EVERY CLASS TO KEEP ALL THIER DANCE SHOES, OUTSIDE SHOES, SCHOOL CLOTHES AND JACKETS.

Below is the proper attire for classes held at the Gym

• Black leotard
• Pink or tan convertible tights
• Pink ballet shoes
• Black tap shoes
• Black jazz shoes

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CHILD'S SHOES HAS THIER NAME IN THEM.

• HAIR MUST BE PULLED BACK
• No chewing gum, food or drink in classrooms or waiting areas

Be on time for class with the proper dance shoes on BEFORE entering the  dance studio. This is no time for parents and/or sitters to enter the dance studio. Only dancers are allowed.

The studio door will be locked 10 minutes into class time. Please understand the importance of having your child to class on time.

 PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CLASSROOMS WHEN CLASSES ARE IN SESSION.

AFTER EACH DANCE CLASS YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE A SUCKER FOR THIER GOOD BEHAVIOR. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A SUCKER FOR ANY SIBLINGS.
