Policy/Guidelines

Genres  are offered in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Leaps & Turns and Tumbling

• Classes are conducted on a full term NORMAL basis, (September to the date of Annual Dance Revue in May). 

• During this period, MOST private school holidays are observed. When schools are dismissed for a full day, because of bad weather or unforeseen disasters, dance lessons WILL NOT be held. 

• When schools are dismissed early, check the announcements in the parent portal, website or our Facebook page to see if classes have been canceled. We will also send out a mass email and text when classes are canceled.

NO REFUNDS OR PRORATES WILL BE GIVEN FOR CLASSES YOUR CHILD MISSES DUE TO VACATION OR BEING ILL. NO REFUNDS OR PRORATES WILL BE GIVEN FOR CANCELED CLASSES DUE TO WEATHER OR UNFORESEEN DISASTERS/PANDEMICS.

• All Payments are due by the last day of each month. If we do not receive your payment by the last day of the month a $25 late fee will be added to your following months bill.

•  If any account is overdue 60 days the student will be dropped from the class. 

• You can pay your bill by check, cash, money order or with a card by logging onto your parent portal.

Every family participating in the Annual Dance Revue will pay a Revue fee. If the student or students drop from dancing after Tuesday, November 1, 2022, you will still be responsible for the full revue fee and all costume fees. 

The Revue will be held on Friday, May 25, 2023 at the Raising Canes River Center Theater.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVING IF YOUR CHILD DROPS FROM CLASSES OR THE REVUE HAS TO BE CANCELLED.

Students who have taken THREE genres of dance with Powell Moïse for 5, 10, or 15 years will receive an award the night of the Revue. This counts a combo class or THREE individual classes.

Students who come from another studio may include those years to recieve an award at Powell Moise, as long as the previous teacher is a member of DMA and the following requirements are met;

• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for THREE years to receive a 5 year award.
• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for SIX years to receive a 10 year award.
• The dancer must be at Powell Moïse for NINE years to receive a 15 year award.

WHEN AWARD INFORMATION IS SENT OUT THE DANCER MUST MAKE SURE THEY SIGN THE AWARD BOARD OR YOU MUST EMAIL US TO LET US KNOW IT IS YOUR CHILD'S 5th, 10th, OR 15th YEAR. IF WE ARE NOT NOTIFIED BY THE DEAD LINe (TBA) WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE AN AWARD THE NIGHT OF THE REVUE.

If your child decides to discontinue from dance lessons, you must notify the studio by email immediately, otherwise, you will still be charged monthly tutiion until we are notified.

IF WE ARE NOT NOTIFIED BY TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2022 THAT YOUR CHILD WILL NOT CONTINUE LESSONS OR BE IN THE DANCE REVUE YOU WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR BOTH THE FULL COSTUME AND REVUE FESS.

Below is the proper attire that is purchased from Powell-Moïse for all Studio classes.

• Navy blue leotard
• Pink convertible tights
• Pink ballet shoes
• Tan buckle tap shoes
• Ballet skirt or Tutu (optional)                                                                                

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CHILD'S SHOES HAS THIER NAME IN THEM.

THEY WILL ALSO NEED TO BRING A DANCE BAG TO EVERY CLASS TO KEEP ALL THIER DANCE SHOES, OUTSIDE SHOES, SCHOOL CLOTHES AND JACKETS.

Below is the proper attire for classes held at the Gym

• Black leotard
• Pink or tan convertible tights
• Pink ballet shoes
• Black tap shoes
• Black jazz shoes

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR CHILD'S SHOES HAS THIER NAME IN THEM.

• HAIR MUST BE PULLED BACK
• Ponytails, pig tails, braids and low buns are accepted
• No chewing gum, food or drink in classrooms or waiting areas
• No oversized necklaces, dangling earrings or abundance of bracelets

Be on time for class with the proper dance shoes on BEFORE entering the  dance studio. This is no time for parents and/or sitters to enter the dance studio. Only dancers are allowed.

Wear regular shoes to and from studio, as well as to and from the gym. Clean dance footwear helps keep the floor clean, and helps make dancing shoes lasts longer.

The studio door will be locked 10 minutes into class time. Please understand the importance of having your child to class on time.

 PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CLASSROOMS WHEN CLASSES ARE IN SESSION.

AFTER EACH DANCE CLASS YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE A SUCKER FOR THIER GOOD BEHAVIOR. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A SUCKER FOR ANY SIBLINGS.

IF WE GIVE TO ONE WE WILL HAVE TO GIVE TO ALL.

 Parents and Friends are welcome to observe classes held at the Studio only. Siblings are allowed to watch, but please make sure they are sitting with you in the waiting room. PLEASE DO NOT let them bang on the observation window, move chairs around,, run around, throw things, play in the office or restroom or go upstairs. This can be distracting to other parents trying to watch their children.
